SMSES FOR WEDNESDAY
A ‘Stand up against alcohol misuse’ campaign will really not work as long as sheebens increase. There are very few recreational activities in most of our towns and as such people tend to drink as a way of getting rid of the boredom. Namibia needs to employ a new approach in the fight against alcoholism. We need to convert sheebens into other economic activities and that will only be realised once we have a change of mind in our economic policies. We also need to educate all Namibians about the evils of alcoholism.
Food for Thought
POLITICAL parties must stop trying to come up with fallacious reasons for a poor voter turnout during the recent elections. Some of us are not happy with what is happening (corruption, poor rural development, etc). Parties fielded candidates that the electorate has no idea about nor believes in. I wouldn’t embrace any man just because he is dating my mother. No. I must also like and trust him. It’s that basic. Period.

A BIG well done and thank you to Peter Mietzner for keeping the Facebook community updated on election results on Sunday. Keep up the good work!
– HC
WELL done to the City of Windhoek on getting the new municipal buses. Some of the old buses were older than me (30) and were really an embarrassment for the capital city.
NDESHI & Jakes really missed the boat today! Does The Namibian believe in separate standards for men and women?
Election Fever
WELL done Swapo Party for a convincing election result. Let’s now use the next five years to make a positive difference in local administration.
IS my vote truly my secret when the ECN official writes my voter registration number on the counterfoil?
WHY start pointing fingers about the low turnout? What about the distance from our own constituencies where we were supposed to cast our votes, but couldn’t because of work and other commitments. Well done Swapo Party continue with your vision for 2030.
– Andreas Nangolo
I AM happy about this last election outcome and thanks to Swapo for winning almost everything, about 95 per cent. But please Swapo the chance is yours again. Feed your people, take them away from dumpsites and give them shelter.
IT is an insult for (Victor) Tonchi, chairman of the Electoral Commission during ‘Talk of the Nation’ to say in Africa you cannot run a perfect voters roll. Does it imply that Africa deserves elections marred by irregularities. If he cannot perfect Namibia’s voter’s roll, he is just incompetent. Let let him resign immediately. This will be the honorable thing to do.
– Mweuhanga
IT is disgusting how some political parties never accept results and their defeat. But instead come up with all sorts of excuses and propaganda. What a shame.
Banking on You
WHAT is the possibility of Agribank granting loans to working youth and having salary deduction agreements for the repayment of the loans as, in most cases, young people who want to buy livestock can’t because of a lack of security. These will be loans to buy livestock for farming only. The repayments will be done in the same way as Nammic, Nedloans are done.
City Fathers Please
CITY of Windhoek! Please construct a pedestrian bridge for the students of Polytech crossing Hosea Kutako Drive! City Police, support the idea.
– MKkulu
In and From the Regions
SOME houses are not sprayed, especially at Iihongo village, Onyaanya Constituency. Now we are suffering from mosquitoes. Please councillor H Kankoshi help us.
WE are staying in Bethanie but we do not have Omulunga Radio, Radio Energy and Channel Seven. Please do something immediately.
I PRAY and wish the newly elected Govenor of Omaheke will improve the roads. We want gravel roads.
Education
THE learner afraid of being ‘sorted’, it is not bullying at all. You are in safe hands. It’s actually fun, so you have nothing to worry about.

CAN one put Unam Finance staff in their place? For students to get their refunds is ever a struggle. Why? Some students cannot travel because of the problem. Please improve.
UNAM must transfer our refunds this week please! We want to pay our rent, now they are telling us that we must wait until 15 December. Whom are we going to contact if they close on the 15th? We applied for our refunds on 25 October! We want every campus to have its own finance department.
DR (Abraham) Iyambo please, please I beg you. Go to Petrus Ganeb SS Hostel and see for yourself the condition in which the learners are living. Painful!
WE agree about Monday’s SMS about Augustineum Training College, not only the road. The school as well as the hall needs very urgent attention. Minister of Education please take note!
PLEASE DR Abraham Iyambo I am a mother who has a child that is starting Grade 1 next year but doesn’t have a place in school in Okahandja because they are full. Please help me.
THIS goes to the Ministry of Education. Why do we, the Oshikoto regional schools, have to close on December 3 or 7, while the other regions already closed last week on the 24th and 25th. It’s not fair to us in the Oshikoto Region. And the Minister said over the news that all schools were going to close on the 7th.
POLYTECHNIC of Namibia, we the students at the school of IT are tired of failing Object Oriented Programming. A lecturer can give you 80 per cent but after moderation you will get 20 per cent. Please Polytechnic do something. We did our best. Otherwise Ministry of Education, come and rescue us.
MR President (Hifikepunye Pohamba) do you know that in Namibia there is a school called Nicolas Witbooi Memorial School? It’s a shame to see our kids go to a school without any development; even the hostel services are shameful - no beds, matresses or even plates to serve food. Please see if you can do something about it.
THANKS to the new principal of Onankali South Combined School, the school has improved for the better. We hope many of us (learners) will pass.
ANDREAS Amundjindi (Uukwiyu constituency of the Oshana Region) we want changes especially at the school Ondiamande Combined School. Please be strong and we wish you strength in your leadership.

ACC Alert
ANTI-Corruption Commission (ACC) please come and investigate the NHE funds at the Municipality of Okahandja. Please come and rescue the residents of Okahandja.
CORRUPTION is growing stronger every day in our country. I have an idea: I think people need to be given contact numbers where they can give their reports wherever corruption is taking place. Then the ACC can know what’s going on and can take action after they get proof of everything they will hear from the nation.
– Kamati C
Note: The ACC has a free hotline 080 022 2888.

Health Matters
MEDICAL and Dental Board, is there a minimum time for consultations with doctors? Some are just too fast.
WHAT rotten food is being sold! Kapanas sellers please think of health first before money. We want to support you but you are bad for our health. Please make sure of the standard of food you sell.
– Concerned F Nghilalulwa.
Law and Order
WE do not condone crime! Rape is rape, whether women or men or in prison or out of prison! The law also applies in prison. Let’s get real. Failure of warders to exercise their duties in prison is a crime in itself.
SO now that the Municipality is going to be dishing out grand traffic fines; could you also consider a hefty fine for noise pollution of those wretched quad bikes and motorbikes? Now that would be great.
CITY of Windhoek traffic department please reduce the legal speed limit from 120kph to 80kph on the Western Bypass, once dubbed ‘road of death’, especially at the portions of intersections to the Country Club, Unam/Kupferberg and Pionierspark. Drivers are speeding like crazy on that road.
Sporting
CAN someone please help us with the refs in the Khomas Second Division. They were not awake at the Sam Nujoma Stadium over the weekend.
IS the body-building competition not newsworthy?
Service Please
WE need One Africa TV at Etosha National Park please.
MINISTRY of Lands, why do you not acknowledge receipt or regret our applications for resettlement? What happened to the principle of the PS on openness? The Ministry of Education, which is the biggest, acknowledges receipt of loan and scholarship applications. Why can’t you?
RECEIVER of Revenue, Oshakati why does it take so long to work out 2008/2009 individual files when you have already paid out others files for 2009/2010! I always submit my files on time. If one does not you are quick to impose penalties! Please deliver. One wonders what this country is turning into?
– Dissatisfied taxpayer
I WOULD like to express my disappointment about the FNB ATM at Eenhana. It is out of order in most cases. Very frustrating. Please FNB do something. We don’t want the same situation in December.
BANK Windhoek’s service is poor. How can you withdraw money from an ATM and only get a slip with a reference number. This happens all the time. I believe I am not alone with this problem.
WHY does Standard Bank not have cellphone banking?
FNB Rundu please improve your service at the tellers and offer service with with a smile.
MTC please buy back your old recharge vouchers
And the Winner Is!
WHY is Coca-Cola not collecting the envelope box at Otjomuise’s Woermann Brock?
