Today Provider of electronic payment solutions Vanco Services announced a new service to give clients the ability to accept payments and/or donations sent by text message. A ‘Stand up against alcohol misuse’ campaign will really not work as long as sheebens increase. There are very few recreational activities in most of our towns and as such people tend to drink as a way of getting rid of the boredom. Namibia needs to employ a new approach in the fight against alcoholism. We need to convert sheebens into other economic activities and that will only be realised once we have a change of mind in our economic policies. We also need to educate all Namibians about the evils of alcoholism.

Two out of three mobile-phone customers - in particular, parents - want to be able to better control spending on premium services such as ringtones, quizzes and games, according to a survey by the industry regulator.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority research also found four out of 10 people had received an unrequested premium SMS or MMS message in the past three months and nearly a third had difficulty stopping the unwanted service. On top of that, most had difficulty obtaining a refund.
